Frequently Asked Volunteer Questions

How many days do I have to volunteer and for how many hours?

Each volunteer must be able to work a minimum of two (2) shifts. A shift will be a six-hour time frame either AM or PM.

Volunteers who work a minimum of 4 shifts will get to participate in Volunteer Golf Outing at Texas Rangers Golf Club with no green fee or cart expense.

What does the volunteer fee cover?

Adult (22+) volunteers will pay a volunteer fee of $50 and student volunteers (14-21) will pay a fee of $20.

Adult volunteers will receive the following: polo shirt, hat, 2 weekly passes and 4 daily passes to the tournament, meals, drinks and snacks during volunteer shifts. Additional polo shirts can be purchased for $25.

Student volunteers will receive tee shirt, hat, 2 weekly passes and 4 daily passes to the tournament, meals, drinks and snacks during volunteer shifts. Additional polo shirts ca be purchased for $25.

Is there a minimum age limit to volunteer?

Student volunteers must be between 14-21 years old and will pay a fee of $20.

If I purchased tickets and then became a volunteer can I refund my tickets?

No. Unfortunately, all ticket sales are final.

Can I watch golf when I am not working?

Yes! Your volunteer credential will serve as your admission pass for the entire week and we encourage you to use it. We do ask that you not wear your uniform when not on duty, so please bring a change of clothes if you plan to spectate before or after your shift.

Can I take photographs or ask for autographs?

When you are not working or in your volunteer uniform, you may use your camera during the practice rounds and pro-am days (Monday – Wednesday). Cameras are not permitted on the grounds Thursday – Sunday. You may ask for an autograph after the player’s round, but not while they are playing.

Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?

We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests. Make sure to list your request in the “Work with or Committee Selection” portion of the registration process. Shift coordinating is only applicable within each committee (i.e. two people on different committees cannot be scheduled to work together at the same times).

What if I cannot attend the training session?

Please make every effort to attend training. However, if you are unable to attend, your committee chair will provide you with the necessary information.

How do I know my assignment and schedule?

We will send you a confirmation email with your committee assignment and chair contact information prior to the tournament.

When will I receive my uniform?

Uniforms will be provided at volunteer sessions approximately a week to 3 weeks prior to event, volunteers can also pick up at Volunteer HQ the week of the event.

What do I do if my uniform does not fit?

  Exchanges can be made at Volunteer HQ the week of the event or at committee training sessions.

What happens if it rains?

The event will go on rain or shine, and we will need your help! Make sure to report to your committee’s check-in location 15-20 minutes prior to your shift, rain or shine. Any weather delays or cancellations will be communicated directly to you by your committee chair.

What should I bring with me to my shift?

You should arrive wearing your volunteer uniform and credential. Many volunteers also like to bring sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and/or a small soft-sided cooler.

What if I am unable to work my shift?

We ask that you please call your committee chair as soon as you know that you are unable to cover your shift.

If I am no longer able to volunteer, can I receive a refund?

You will only get a refund if you provide 30 days notice.

Where can I get something to eat and drink during my shift?

Volunteer HQ will be your primary location for food and beverages during your shift.

Where do I park when I volunteer?

Volunteer parking and parking pass will be provided at a designed parking area.

Where do I park when I am not working but want to attend?

Volunteer parking and parking pass will be provided at a designed parking area.
