ARLINGTON, Texas – The PGA TOUR’s Korn Ferry Tour announced today the Veritex Bank Championship will be held from April 10-16, 2022, at Texas Rangers Golf Club. The only Korn Ferry Tour event conducted in the state of Texas will welcome 156 players competing for a $750,000 purse.

“The Korn Ferry Tour’s return to Arlington for the Veritex Bank Championship will be a high point in our 2022 season, and we’re excited to build on the success and excitement surrounding this tournament,” Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin said. “This event became an instant favorite among our membership, and the livestream coverage in 2022 will enable us to connect with golf fans around the world as the Veritex Bank Championship introduces them to the future stars of the PGA TOUR.”

The Veritex Bank Championship will serve as an entertaining sports spectacle for the entire DFW community. The championship will feature hospitality and entertainment opportunities for all ages and support local charities including The Folded Flag Foundation, Camp Esperanza along with several junior golf programs.

Due to the Easter holiday and to maximize the fan experience, the tournament schedule will be slightly untraditional. The 72-hole championship will begin on Wednesday, April 13 and conclude on Saturday, April 16. The Korn Ferry Tour and tournament staff are extremely excited for the altered schedule and plan for an exciting atmosphere throughout the holiday weekend.

“The Veritex Bank Championship kicks off the professional golf season in DFW,” Anera Sports CEO Rob Addington said. “Good Friday and the Saturday finish will allow for us to create an entertaining sports event for the entire family, and we look forward to crowning another worthy champion.”

In addition to the on-site hospitality, the Korn Ferry Tour will stream live coverage of the Veritex Bank Championship, which will be the first live Korn Ferry Tour tournament coverage available to fans during the 2022 season.

“Providing Korn Ferry Tour fans with more content and additional live coverage is extremely important to our Tour right now, and we’re excited to deliver live coverage from the final two rounds of the Veritex Bank Championship, one of our best-in-class events, on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16,” Baldwin said.

Veritex Community Bank is the proud title sponsor as part of a 5-year agreement with the PGA TOUR and City of Arlington. The Dallas-based community bank specializes in business banking, commercial loans, small business lending, treasury management and mortgages. There are over 40 banking centers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and greater Houston area.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with the PGA TOUR’s Korn Ferry Tour and the Arlington community to bring this premiere event back to DFW,” Veritex Community Bank CEO Malcolm Holland said. “Our market deserves such an event, and we are humbled to be a part of it.”

Texas Rangers Golf Club opened in 2019 following a $24 million overhaul of the Chester W. Ditto Golf Course, with Arlington-based architects John Colligan and Trey Kemp leading the renovation. The only Major League Baseball-branded golf course is owned and operated by the City of Arlington and will play host for the second consecutive year.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Korn Ferry Tour back to Arlington and Texas Rangers Golf Club,” City of Arlington Golf Services Manager Greg Durante said. “Last year’s inaugural event brought a ton of excitement, from the thrilling finish to spectators being able to see the professionals play their local course. We look forward to building upon that momentum in 2022.”

With 50 PGA TOUR cards available following each season (since 2013), the Korn Ferry Tour is the path to the PGA TOUR. Twenty-five TOUR cards are reserved for the leading points earners at the end of the 24-event Regular Season. Another 25 are up for grabs at the three-event Korn Ferry Tour Finals following the Regular Season in August and September.

During the PGA TOUR’s 2020-21 season, 35 Korn Ferry Tour alumni won titles. Victor Hovland (Mayakoba Golf Classic presented by UNIFIN), Robert Streb (The RSM Classic) and Cam Davis (Rocket Mortgage Classic) were all 2019 Korn Ferry Tour graduates and claimed PGA TOUR wins last season.

Other notable PGA TOUR players who got their start on the Korn Ferry Tour include major champions Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau, Jason Day, Bubba Watson and Zach Johnson.
