Frequently Asked Volunteer Questions

How many days do I have to volunteer and for how many hours?

Each volunteer must be able to work a minimum of two (2) shifts. A shift will be a six-hour time frame either AM or PM.

Volunteers who work a minimum of three (3) six-hour shifts will receive a voucher to play golf at Texas Rangers Golf Club with no green fee or cart expense.

What does the volunteer fee cover?

New adult (22+) volunteers will pay a volunteer fee of $50, returning adult volunteers from 2021 will pay a fee of $25 and student volunteers (14-21) will pay a fee of $20.

New adult volunteers will receive the following: polo shirt, hat, 2 weekly passes and 4 daily passes to the tournament and one meal, drinks and snacks during volunteer shifts.

Student volunteers will receive tee shirt, hat, 2 weekly passes and 4 daily passes to the tournament and one meal, drinks and snacks during volunteer shifts.

Additional polo shirts can be purchased for $50 and outerwear can be purchased for $60. Additional standard hats can be purchased for $12, visors for $21, bucket hats for $25, and sun hat for $32.

Is there a minimum age limit to volunteer?

Student volunteers must be between 14-21 years old and will pay a fee of $20.

If I purchased tickets and then became a volunteer can I refund my tickets?

No. Unfortunately, all ticket sales are final.

Can I watch golf when I am not working?

Yes! Your volunteer credential will serve as your admission pass for the entire week and we encourage you to use it. We do ask that you not wear your uniform except when not on duty, so please bring a change of clothes if you plan to spectate before or after your shift.

Can I take photographs or ask for autographs?

When you are not working or in your volunteer uniform, you may use your camera during the practice rounds and Pro-Am days (Sunday – Tuesday). Cameras are not permitted on the grounds Wednesday – Saturday. You may ask for an autograph after the player’s round, but not while they are playing.

Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?

We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests. Make sure to list your request in the “Work with or Committee Selection” portion of the registration process. Shift coordinating is only applicable within each committee (i.e. two people on different committees cannot be scheduled to work together at the same times).

What if I cannot attend the volunteer orientation?

The Volunteer Orientation will take place on TBD. Please make every effort to attend the Volunteer Orientation. However, if you are unable to attend, please read through all of our volunteering material by clicking here and let your VBC Committee Chairperson know so that they can provide your with any necessary information.

How do I know my assignment and schedule?

We will send you a confirmation email with your committee assignment and chair contact information prior to the tournament. To view your volunteer shift schedule, you will need to log back in to your volunteer profile.

When will I receive my uniform?

Uniform pick up will take place on TBD, volunteers can also pick up their uniform and credential at Volunteer HQ the week of the event before your first shift starts.

What do I do if my uniform does not fit?

  Exchanges can be made at Volunteer HQ the week of the event, if the requested size is available.

What happens if it rains?

The event will go on rain or shine, and we will need your help! Make sure to report to your committee’s check-in location 15-20 minutes prior to your shift, rain or shine. Any weather delays or cancellations will be communicated directly to you by your committee chairperson.

What should I bring with me to my shift?

You should arrive wearing your volunteer uniform and credential. Many volunteers also like to bring sunscreen, umbrella, a refillable water bottle, collapsible chair and/or a small soft-sided cooler.

 

What if I am unable to work my shift?

We ask that you please call your committee chairperson as soon as you know that you are unable to cover your shift.

If I am no longer able to volunteer, can I receive a refund?

You will only get a refund if you provide 30 days notice.

Where can I get something to eat and drink during my shift?

Volunteer HQ will be your primary location for food and beverages during your shift. One meal will be provided per shift, with drinks and snacks available throughout the shift.

Where do I park when I volunteer?

Volunteer and Spectator parking is TBD. Information will be updated at a later date.
